Remember the times when Resident Evil first came out? We used to cut off all the lights and creep thru the mansion with the mood from their being no music playing and jumping out of our chairs when something creepy happened? Or what about Fatal Frame with it’s incredibly creepy poltergeist appearances or even Silent Hill which could send shivers down your spine…remember those feelings? No? Chances are then you may feel like we do. So on today’s episode we ask the question: Has Survival horror as a genre lost its appeal? With the endless sequels of Resident Evil that have gotten further and further away from the greatness of the original game and the clones it’s spawned, what’s left for the genre to do? Simon Sez, G.Q., and The Great Daitokuji (back from his trip with Asian campers) debate the topic.
