Nintendo has always been a company that has marched to beat of their own drum. Even when it was not in their favor. However they have made the decision to get into the mobile market- this has caused some devote fanboys to cry out in rage. Nintendo has also announced that their next console code named “Project NX” is in the works. As someone who is primarily a PC gamer and owns a Wii U- I am a bit concerned about Nintendo. I purchased a Wii U because its the console to play Nintendo exclusives…and the Monster Hunter series. However it’s a dead console in my opinion- with almost little to no 3rd party support and a few games lined up this year with Zelda being pushed back to 2016. Wii U owners don’t have much to look forward to. The reason why I mention this is because I don’t think it would be wise to launch another console without strong 3rd party support. They promised strong 3rd party games with the announcement of the Wii U, and in less than a year there’s almost nothing.
Let’s be honest here- Nintendo has not had strong 3rd party anything since the SNES days and it seems that their relationships with other developers are almost non-existent. What I’m trying to say is that Nintendo’s next console needs to have strong 3rd party support and not be under-powered like the Wii U. Their decision to go into the mobile market will more than likely pan out for them. They will make lots of money and probably have weird contract clauses which won’t matter because people are going to eat it up. I personally am not excited about Nintendo’s new console nor do I care about them moving to the mobile space. I’m just curious if they are going to continue to live in the 80’s as far the way they do games. No voice chat for Spaltoon Nintendo, really? Lots of changes need to made to the way that company runs things- lots. If Nintendo continues to stay this course I believe that the mobile and handhelds will be the only way that Nintendo will be able to survive the fast pace of the gaming market.
