So Katsucon was last weekend, and there was plenty of incredible cosplays on display. One of them was a previous feature on Culture Junkies in the form of Protege Cosplay, but another was this amazing Darkwing Duck inspired cosplay. It was so awesome I just had to get in touch with the young woman in question behind it. She was gracious enough to grant me permission to tell you a little bit about her.
She is Roquois. A singer/songwriter by trade, and longtime Anime Junkie raised on Sailor Moon, which she credits for shaping who she is as a person. I’ll let her speak for herself in her own words from here on out:
Q: How long have you been cosplaying?
Roqouis: “I made my first cosplay at 17 for my first con which was Otakon… I went to college and lived life and always wanted to get back into but I didn’t have the courage nor the support. After many years and finally deciding to embrace my nerd-dom more, I got back into it 3 years ago and never looked back!”
Q: What are your favorite geeky pastimes (playing video games, watching anime etc.)
Roqouis: My fav (sic) geeky past times are watching anime… too much anime… scratch that… never enough anime lol… I also play video games and write music. Occasionally you can find me helping out friends and their businesses and helping to code their websites… I know so random but yes I know code…
Q: What is your favorite show/movie/game/anime
Roqouis: My fav anime is Sailor Moon… I mean really it helped shape who I am as a person! I’m also a huge fan of Hunter Hunter, My Hero Academia, Naruto, and many other anime of various genres!
Q: What are you doing IRL?
Roqouis: In real life I’m a Singer/Songwriter, I have written for various artists/musicians with Sony, Universal, Def Jan, etc! I also have my own album out on Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music called Metaphors. I was also a featured artist on Trina’s album “The One” that came out late 2019!
Q: Where can people find more of you.
I would love it if people could check out and support my music online: Www.metaphors.roquois.com
