Day one of the 2014 Comic Con International in San Diego is in the books. The throngs of fans have hit the convention floor and started to grab up all the goodies. The media machine doesn’t really kick into gear until tonight but there was still some interesting things to come out yesterday, so lets recap really quickly.
Batman’s Cowl & Close up of Ben Affleck
Warner Bros. is celebrating 75 years of Batman. Similarly to last year’s Superman 75th celebration, where every Superman suit ever filmed was on the show floor, this year every Batman suit is on the show floor, including Ben Affleck’s suit from the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Also, WB has released an image of Ben Affleck wearing the cowl in a still shot that offers us the best look yet of his face in the suit. The look matches WB’s description of this iteration of Batman: Seasoned (read older), Grizzled and somewhat weary. Also noticeable is the very smallish ears of the cowl, something many mainstream fans aren’t used to, but is really faithful to the Frank Miller take from The Dark Knight Returns. There’s some news out there about Ben Affleck not being too happy with the suit design , for “natural” reasons, but I have to say it looks pretty good to me! Browse the gallery below and get a good look at it for yourselves. Pics courtesy of SuperHeroHype.
Avengers and Ant-Man Posters Debut
Marvel Studios is going to have exclusive posters at this years Comic-Con just like the ones for the previous Avengers movie. They are a set of posters that fit together to make a much larger poster, and the scene depicted is EPIC!!! In the posters the Avengers (so far Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America and Scarlet Witch) are fighting a horde of Ultron bodies and seem to be nearing insurmountable odds! Once assembled (I see what you did there Marvel!) this will be quite the piece for framing! Also appearing at the con was an Ant-Man poster inspired by the movie. Check out the pictures in the gallery below! I’ll update the gallery in future recaps as I get them. **Updated with Hawkeye and Quicksilver/Vision Posters**
Korra pulled off TV, Switching to Online only!
In a surprise announcement, Nickelodeon has yanked The Legend of Korra off the air and is switching the show to be a digital distributed show. Some fans are fairly upset over this new development, fearing cancellation, but Nickelodeon has already ordered Season 4 of the show. Given the lack of promotion the show has had, past season one, its not hard to see why fans may have the fear of the show being cancelled. The lack of promotion of Korra rivals that of Green Lantern and Young Justice on Cartoon Network. We all know how that ended, but Korra doesn’t seem to be suffering the same fate. This may be a response to the trend of having online only TV shows ala Netflix, and some say its to combat video piracy and retain accurate metrics. Let’s hope those are very reasons are very valid.
Halo: Nightfall Debuts
Xbox Entertainment’s live-action Halo series debuted at Comic-Con this year. Taking place in-between Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall stars Mike Colton as Jameson Locke, a surgically enhanced soldier in the Spartan Army who will play an integral role in Halo 5….guess we know he’s going to live huh? In any case, its scheduled to debut exclusively on Xbox Live later this year. Check out the preview from the show below along with the picture gallery.
That’s just day one! It only gets crazier from here! 3 more days to go Junkies! Strap in for some fun!
