Cloak & Dagger have been officially cast, and it’s not who we thought it was going to be!
Contrary to earlier rumors, actress Olivia Holt (Disney’s Kickin’ It) and Aubrey Joseph (Run All Night) have been officially announced as the star-crossed superhero couple Cloak & Dagger.
Created by Bill Matlo and Ed Hannigan for Marvel Comics, Cloak (Joseph), real name Tyrone Johnson, and Dagger (Holt), really name Tandy Bowen, are two teenagers from different worlds who are given superpowers against their will. The two fall in love after running away from home.
“The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy. When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page. We’re so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe,” said executive producer/showrunner Joe Pokaski.
“Marvel is delighted to have found our Cloak & Dagger. Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph encompass the true essence of the characters and we are excited for the audience to see them in these roles,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer.
Earlier it was rumored that Debby Ryan and Noah Gray-Cabey were in talks for the roles, but these two seem to fit the bill much better. Filming should be starting later this year with a 2018 premiere date scheduled.
